Check Macon County VINELink

A VINELink release check can follow one Macon County inmate record and provide notice of an agency-reported custody change. Tennessee VINE receives data from county jails and the state correction system, but it does not cover every federal or immigration record. To check a Macon County inmate on VINELink, match the person and reporting agency with care. Then read the status, location, identifier, and any event date as one record. A release notice means the supplying agency ended its custody. It does not always mean the person returned to the community or that all supervision ended.

Macon County VINELink Coverage

VINE stands for Victim Information and Notification Everyday. VINELink is the public search and alert interface. TDOC joined Tennessee VINE reporting in 2021, and TDOC’s annual report states that all 95 county jails already used VINE through the Tennessee Sheriffs’ Association. That supports a statewide Macon County jail path as well as TDOC reporting. The Macon Sheriff does not publish a county-specific VINE guide, delay, field set, or retention period.

VINELink has two functions. It can show an agency-fed record for one person, and it can register alerts for later events. It is not a Macon County 24-hour or 72-hour release list. A person may also have more than one record after moving between agencies. The reporting agency identifies the custody covered by each result.

Sheriff Joey Wilburn’s office publishes no official online roster or recent-release archive. VINE can bridge part of that access gap for a named person, but it cannot produce a complete county release log. A narrow Sheriff records request remains the source for the booking number, exact county release time, reason, and destination. The Macon court case can then show the order or disposition behind the event.

Custody systemCorrect VINELink use
Macon County JailSearch the Tennessee county-jail record and confirm release details with the Sheriff.
TDOC prison or felony supervisionUse the Tennessee record, then compare it with TDOC FOIL.
Federal BOP custodyUse the BOP inmate locator, not VINELink.
ICE custodyUse ICE ODLS for present custody; VINELink is not the controlling locator.
USMS pretrial custodyCheck the federal court, USMS, and holding agency because there is no public USMS historical locator.

Macon County VINELink Release Fields

Fields vary by the agency sending the data. No source guarantees that every released Macon County record stays searchable for a fixed time. On a matched record, read all supplied fields together. A date without its label can be misunderstood. A facility or agency identifies which custody the status describes.

FieldWhat it can establish
Custody statusThe current agency-fed posture, which may be in custody, released, or another supplied term.
Reporting agencyThe jail or correction system responsible for that record.
LocationThe supplied facility or placement, not a complete history of all custody.
Offender identifierA key way to separate same-name people.
Event typeThe agency-reported custody change, such as transfer or release when provided.
Event dateThe effective date supplied for that event, not a universal court disposition date.

A released status is agency-specific. Macon custody can end through bond, recognizance, time served, dismissal, sentence completion, or transfer. A transfer to TDOC, another jail, ICE, or federal custody ends the Sheriff’s custody but does not mean the person is free from confinement. Parole or probation can end prison custody while supervision continues.

Register Macon County Release Alerts

Registration should occur on the matched person and agency record. Available channels can include phone, text or SMS, email, TTY, and in-app delivery. The choices presented may vary. Use a direct phone number that can receive an automated prompt. A switchboard that cannot pass the call to the registrant may fail at confirmation.

  1. Select GET NOTIFIED on the correct record.
  2. Choose the phone, text, email, TTY, or in-app option offered.
  3. Enter the destination and language requested by the form.
  4. For telephone alerts, create the required four-digit PIN and repeat it when prompted.
  5. Complete the channel verification and save the confirmation.
  6. When an automated call arrives, enter the PIN to confirm receipt.
  7. Keep the PIN because it is also needed to change the notification later.

Tennessee VINE support is available at 888-868-4631 around the clock. TTY support is listed at 866-847-1298. Support can help with search and registration mechanics. It cannot replace the Macon Sheriff, TDOC, a court, or a receiving agency as the source of a legal custody record.

Alerts are a prompt to verify. Data can be supplied after the physical event, and no Macon-specific delay has been published. If an expected alert does not arrive, open the saved record, check the agency directly, and confirm that the notification channel is still active.

Macon VINELink County-to-State Bridge

Tennessee’s combined county and TDOC VINE layer is especially useful when custody moves. A Macon County jail event can be followed by a TDOC record if the person begins or continues a state felony sentence. The same name may therefore appear under different agencies at different points. Select the record that answers the current question.

FOIL supplies the stronger Tennessee felony history and sentence context. It may report incarcerated, parole, probation, or inactive status along with location, offense, sentence, hearing, and release information. VINELink adds event checks and notices. The two systems overlap but are not identical. A VINE county release followed by a FOIL prison location points toward a state transfer, while a VINE TDOC release paired with FOIL parole may point toward physical release under supervision.

No Macon-specific VINE retention rule was found. Save the alert confirmation, then obtain the Sheriff release entry or TDOC record when lasting proof is needed. A VINE status is useful evidence from a supplier, but it is not a complete booking, sentence, or court file.

TDOC also offers a sentence-information request when FOIL does not resolve the endpoint. Its process separates a state-prison offender from a felony offender serving in a county jail. Historical state records use the archived-record route. This matters in Macon County because a person can be physically housed in a county facility while serving under the Tennessee felony system. The custody label, sentence authority, and reporting agency must agree.

Note: “Release” marks the endpoint of the listed agency’s custody, so follow any destination before treating it as community release.

Confirm Macon County VINELink Releases

VINELink has clear limits. It is not the Federal Bureau of Prisons locator, the ICE detainee locator, a USMS history search, or a parole-warrant list. Agency data can lag. Fields and searchable history vary. It should not serve as the only legal or personal-safety confirmation.

Important: Confirm a Macon County release with the agency that held the person and check whether another agency received custody.

For a county release, request the Macon Sheriff’s booking and release entry with the date, time, reason, and transfer destination. Check the TnCIS court case for the order or disposition. For a Tennessee felony, compare VINELink with TDOC FOIL and use sentence-information records if the exact endpoint is unclear. A release eligibility date or parole hearing is not actual release.

For BOP custody, use the federal locator. A past federal release date confirms that BOP custody ended, not that federal supervised release or all other custody ended. For ICE, ODLS is a present-custody locator, and a not-found response can have several causes. Macon County’s place on Tennessee’s 287(g) participation list makes an ICE handoff locally relevant. Ask the Sheriff for the destination before choosing a federal system.

Registries are also separate. The TBI Sex Offender Registry and other narrow registries reflect specific statutory duties. They do not supply a general Macon County release date and cannot prove when a person left jail.

When the alert and official records disagree, use the newest record from the agency that owned the custody event and ask it to explain the discrepancy. Record the time of the call and the identifiers used. For a transfer, contact the receiving system next. For a court-authorized county release, pair the Sheriff timestamp with the Macon judgment. That two-source check preserves both the physical event and its legal basis.

A disappearance from search results is not itself a release event. Records can age out, identifiers can be corrected, and suppliers can change what is displayed. Ask for an existing release-log entry when a past Macon County event must be fixed to a date and time. If the event led to TDOC, BOP, ICE, or another jail, use that destination’s record to continue the custody trail.
